BLogeion. 1. Yeet

Krishnan Ram-Prasad

Corruption of third person singular of Lat. iēre, itself a corruption of Gk Ιἔεμαι, borrowed into English via Low German.
Obscure etymology: root appears to Proto-Indo-European *i-h₁e-h₁e-, a baffling combination of a word-initial present marker and two identical deictic markers, literally something like “now”+“here”+“HERE”. Perhaps a form of intensive reduplication. Translation ultimately as elusive as Modern English “yeet”.
